Position Overview:
As a Psychological Associate (Postdoctoral Resident) in a private practice setting, you will perform psychological and neuropsychological assessments for individuals of all ages under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. You will gain hands-on experience in every aspect of the assessment process, from initial intake to testing, feedback sessions, and report writing. In this role, you will work with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, evaluating a wide range of concerns, including cognitive, social, emotional, academic, and developmental challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments for children, teens, and adults with various concerns like ADHD, autism, learning disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, and more.
- Administer, score, and interpret different psychological tests, including those for cognitive skills, memory, attention, executive functioning, and emotional and personality assessments.
- Perform diagnostic intake interviews and provide helpful, useful feedback sessions to clients and their families.
- Write detailed reports, summarizing findings and offering diagnostic impressions and personalized treatment recommendations.
- Offer clear, compassionate feedback to clients and families to help them understand the results, diagnoses, and recommendations.
- Communicate with other professionals involved in the client’s care, such as therapists, doctors, and educators.
- Keep accurate and detailed records, following all legal and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in regular supervision with a licensed psychologist, who will help you grow professionally and meet postdoctoral requirements for licensure in California.
- Stay informed on the latest research and best practices in psychological and neuropsychological testing.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology (or a related field) from an APA-accredited program.
- Eligible to register with the California Board of Psychology as a Registered Psychological Associate (we’ll help you with the registration process).
- Ability to work compassionately with a diverse range of clients who have complex cognitive, emotional, social, and developmental conditions.
- Strong commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some experience administering and interpreting psychological and neuropsychological tests during previous internships or practicum.
- Strong writing skills.
- Completed a pre-doctoral internship that included experience in psychological and/or neuropsychological assessment.
