Are reading and writing challenges impacting your life?
Do you or your child struggle with reading fluently, despite significant effort?
Is spelling consistently challenging, leading to frustration and mistakes?
Have difficulties with reading comprehension caused anxiety or lowered confidence?
If these challenges resonate with you, you’re not alone. Dyslexia is a common learning difference that affects the way the brain processes written language. Whether it’s a child struggling in school or an adult facing difficulties in the workplace, the impact of dyslexia can be far-reaching. Simple tasks like reading a book, writing an email, or following written instructions can become sources of stress and frustration.
These challenges can affect more than just academics or work performance. They often lead to feelings of inadequacy, lowered self-esteem, and a sense of isolation. Many people with dyslexia feel as though they are constantly falling behind, despite their best efforts. This can make everyday life overwhelming and diminish the joy of learning or pursuing new opportunities.
However, it’s important to understand that dyslexia is not a reflection of intelligence or potential. With the right support and strategies, individuals with dyslexia can thrive. The first step to overcoming these challenges is understanding them, and that’s where comprehensive dyslexia testing comes in.
Dyslexia is more common than you think
Dyslexia affects up to 20% of the population, making it one of the most common learning differences. Despite this, many individuals go undiagnosed, struggling silently with reading and writing challenges throughout their lives. Understanding that you are not alone—and that dyslexia is a well-recognized condition—can be incredibly empowering.
Dyslexia can manifest in various ways, from difficulty decoding words to challenges with spelling and reading comprehension. It can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or intelligence. What’s important to remember is that dyslexia is not a failure on your part or your child’s part. It’s simply a different way of processing language, and with the right support, those with dyslexia can achieve their full potential.
Many successful individuals, including artists, entrepreneurs, and scientists, have dyslexia. They have learned to harness their strengths and find strategies to work around their challenges. With early identification and targeted interventions, the path to success becomes clearer and more achievable.
Comprehensive dyslexia testing: Your path to clarity and support
At Huntington Psychological Services, our comprehensive dyslexia assessment is designed to provide a clear and thorough understanding of an individual’s unique learning profile. It’s more than just a test; it’s a detailed exploration of cognitive and academic abilities that pinpoints the root cause of reading and writing difficulties. This process delivers clear answers and, more importantly, a personalized roadmap for success.
This evaluation can bring much-needed clarity to situations like:
A bright elementary school student who loves stories but whose spelling is consistently jumbled, making writing a source of daily frustration.
A high schooler who understands complex concepts in class but takes hours to complete reading assignments and struggles to organize their thoughts in essays, impacting their grades and self-esteem.
An adult professional who feels anxious about composing emails or reading reports, limiting their confidence and potential for career advancement.
The result is not just a label but a detailed report with tailored recommendations and strategies for school, home, or the workplace, empowering you with the tools needed to thrive.

We put ourselves in your shoes, ensuring every evaluation is delivered with the compassion, warmth, and professional excellence you and your family deserve.
Our assessment process
Intake
We'll start with a 1 to 1.5-hour interview (online or in person). You’ll meet with your lead clinician to talk about your concerns, what you hope to get out of the evaluation, and the goals you want to set. (If it's for your child, this session is just for the parents.)
Testing
Next, you or your child will spend about 3-4 hours in our office with a testing technician. We'll complete various tests to get a clear picture of your thinking, processing, and learning styles. Most of the time, this is done in a single visit.
Feedback
In another 1 to 1.5-hour meeting (online or in person), your lead clinician will walk you through the results. We’ll discuss any diagnoses and give you a personalized action plan with concrete recommendations.
Report
About two weeks after your feedback session, we’ll send you a detailed report with all your results, diagnoses, and recommendations. You can use this to share with doctors, schools, or anyone else who is a part of your care team.
The entire evaluation process takes about six weeks, with the final report arriving two weeks after your feedback session. Our goal is to give you more than just a diagnosis—we want to provide you with a clear roadmap and helpful information you can use for clarity and support moving forward.

Opting for cheaper, faster, and less comprehensive evaluations can result in wasted time, money, and effort, providing few answers and more frustration. It’s worth investing in your well-being, and that’s what the testing process is all about.
