Are You Considering ADHD Testing Near La Canada, CA?

  • Do you or your child show signs of ADHD that make daily life feel overwhelming?
  • Are hyperactivity, difficulty focusing, or challenges with organization affecting your productivity or relationships?
  • Do you find yourself frequently procrastinating, missing deadlines, or struggling to manage your responsibilities?

These symptoms might even lead to stress in your personal life, tension with family, or difficulties at work or school. You may feel frustrated when disorganization and impulsive behaviors interfere with friendships and social connections. Perhaps you’ve experienced self-doubt or low self-esteem as a result of these struggles.

Or maybe you’ve noticed similar signs in your child. They might have trouble sitting still in the classroom, following instructions, or completing assignments on time. Disruptive behavior, constant interruptions, and difficulty concentrating can lead to academic setbacks and feelings of frustration—both for them and for you.

If you’re seeing these signs in yourself or your child, it’s important to know that you’re not alone. At Huntington Psychological Services, we specialize in comprehensive ADHD evaluations for individuals of all ages. We’re here to help you gain clarity, develop strategies to manage symptoms, and access the tools and accommodations needed to thrive.

Why Is ADHD Testing Becoming So Common?

The demand for ADHD evaluations has grown substantially in recent years. According to the CDC, approximately 11% of children between the ages of 3 and 17 have been diagnosed with ADHD. For adults ages 18 to 44, roughly 8% have received a diagnosis. These numbers are likely underreported since many people—especially adults—remain undiagnosed, often because ADHD was less understood in earlier decades.

Fortunately, awareness and understanding of ADHD have improved significantly. As stigma fades, more people recognize how ADHD impacts their lives and seek support. Comprehensive ADHD evaluations are a vital first step, providing the information necessary to pursue effective treatments, accommodations, and strategies for managing symptoms.

Diagnosing ADHD early can help prevent secondary challenges such as anxiety, depression, or reduced self-esteem. Without proper assessment and support, it can be challenging to excel in school, perform well at work, or maintain healthy relationships. A thorough ADHD evaluation can pave the way for improved functioning and a better quality of life.

How ADHD Testing Can Make a Difference

At Huntington Psychological Services, our ADHD evaluations are designed to offer a comprehensive understanding of the challenges you or your child may be facing. These assessments provide clear, actionable recommendations tailored to your unique needs.

Think of our evaluation process as a personalized “blueprint” that helps uncover strengths, identify vulnerabilities, and outline strategies for growth. We take a compassionate and professional approach, treating every client with the care and respect they deserve.

By understanding the unique ways ADHD manifests, we can help you or your child leverage inherent strengths. For instance, many people with ADHD possess exceptional creativity, multitasking abilities, and hyperfocus. Our goal is to help you harness these talents while addressing the symptoms that may be holding you back.

Our ADHD Testing Process

Our assessments follow a simple three-step process which is outlined below:

  • Step One: Intake appointment—Your journey begins with a one-to-two-hour clinical interview, which can be done in-person or via Zoom. During this session, you and your clinician will discuss your concerns, outline your goals, and create a customized evaluation plan. If your child is being evaluated, the intake session will take place with parents only.
  • Step Two: Testing—The testing phase involves a day-long, in-person session where you or your child will complete various tasks designed to assess cognitive functioning, processing styles, and learning patterns. This step helps us build a detailed blueprint of strengths and weaknesses. While most evaluations are completed in a single day, some may require additional sessions.
  • Step Three: Feedback—In a one-to-two-hour feedback session, we’ll review the results of the assessment with you, share any diagnoses, and provide specific recommendations for managing symptoms. About two weeks after this session, you’ll receive a detailed written report summarizing the findings and recommendations. If needed, we’ll also help you access accommodations at school or work, review relevant records, and conduct school observations.

From start to finish, the evaluation process typically takes about six weeks. With our guidance, you can gain clarity and begin implementing strategies to improve productivity, relationships, and overall well-being.

Common Questions About ADHD Testing

What if ADHD testing costs too much?

Our ADHD evaluations involve 20 to 30 hours of clinician work, making the cost comparable to therapy. While evaluations are an investment, they can save time and money by accurately identifying challenges and guiding targeted solutions. Many clients find the benefits of personalized recommendations and accommodations far outweigh the costs.

Do you accept insurance?

Our practice is out-of-network (OON) with all health insurance plans. However, many individuals have plans that can reimburse some of your costs for OON treatments. To make things easier, we’ve partnered with Reimbursify, which simplifies the process of filing insurance claims and reduces the hassle of OON claims. Submitting your claim takes just minutes, and you can receive your payment more quickly. For more details, please feel free to contact us.

Can you distinguish ADHD from other conditions?

Yes. ADHD symptoms often overlap with other conditions, such as anxiety or learning disorders. A comprehensive evaluation ensures an accurate diagnosis by identifying whether symptoms stem from ADHD or another condition. This distinction is crucial for effective treatment, as interventions for ADHD differ significantly from those for other disorders.
