Considering ADHD Testing Near Laguna Hills, CA?

  • Do you find it challenging to stay organized, focused, or productive?
  • Are hyperactivity and impulsive behavior disrupting your daily routines?
  • Do you often procrastinate, miss deadlines, or feel overwhelmed at work or school?

Maybe ADHD symptoms have started to impact your relationships, add stress to your home life, or create difficulties in professional or academic settings. Time management might feel like a constant battle, with unfinished tasks and missed appointments becoming the norm. Maintaining relationships may also be difficult, as forgetfulness or inattentiveness could be interpreted as a lack of concern by others. Over time, these struggles might erode your confidence and self-esteem.

Or, perhaps you’re concerned about your child exhibiting signs of ADHD. They may have difficulty focusing in school, struggle to complete assignments, or frequently interrupt others during conversations. These behaviors can lead to academic challenges and social difficulties, leaving you searching for ways to support them.

At Huntington Psychological Services, we understand how ADHD can affect both children and adults. We specialize in providing detailed neuropsychological assessments to help you or your loved one gain clarity, access resources, and take meaningful steps toward improvement.

Why ADHD Testing Is Vital Today

Awareness of ADHD has grown significantly, making accurate testing more important than ever. According to the CDC, approximately 11% of children aged 3 to 17 have been diagnosed with ADHD (1). Additionally, around 8% of adults aged 18 to 44 are also diagnosed with the condition (2). However, many cases remain undiagnosed, particularly among adults who grew up before ADHD was widely recognized.

The reduced stigma surrounding ADHD has encouraged more people to seek evaluations. Today, these assessments are widely accepted as the first step toward better understanding and treatment. They provide essential insights into cognitive and behavioral patterns, resulting in personalized recommendations, such as therapy, medication, and accommodations in school or the workplace.

Early identification is key to addressing secondary challenges like anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. An ADHD evaluation can help individuals overcome barriers to productivity, build stronger relationships, and improve their overall quality of life.

How ADHD Testing Works

Our process is straightforward and personalized, consisting of three key steps:

Step One: Intake Appointment
The process begins with a one- to two-hour clinical interview, which can be conducted in person or via Zoom. During this session, you’ll discuss your concerns, set goals, and collaborate with your clinician to develop a customized evaluation plan. If your child is being evaluated, this session will be conducted with you alone to gather important background information.

Step Two: Testing Session
This is a comprehensive, in-person evaluation session during which you or your child will complete a series of tasks to assess cognitive functioning, learning patterns, and processing styles. Most evaluations are completed in a single day, though additional sessions may be required in some cases. The goal is to create a detailed profile of strengths and weaknesses.

Step Three: Feedback Session
In a one- to two-hour feedback session, either in person or via Zoom, we’ll review the evaluation results and discuss whether ADHD or another condition is present. You’ll receive specific recommendations for treatment and accommodations, as well as strategies to address identified challenges. Within two weeks of the feedback session, you’ll receive a comprehensive written report summarizing the findings and recommendations.

The entire process typically takes about six weeks. Afterward, we can assist you in accessing school or workplace accommodations, reviewing records, or even conducting school observations if needed. Our goal is to empower you with the tools and strategies to improve your daily functioning and overall well-being.

You May Have Some Questions About ADHD Testing…

What if the cost of ADHD testing feels too high?
Our evaluations are thorough and require 20 to 30 hours of clinician work, which makes the hourly rate comparable to therapy. The investment can provide immense value, as the clarity and direction gained from the assessment often save time and resources in the long run. Many clients find that the benefits—such as improved relationships, better academic or work performance, and enhanced mental health—far outweigh the cost.

Do you accept insurance?
We are an out-of-network provider with all insurance plans. However, many insurance policies offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network services. To simplify the process, we’ve partnered with Reimbursify, a platform that streamlines the submission of insurance claims. Filing your claim takes only a few minutes, and reimbursement can arrive more quickly than expected. Please contact us for more details.

Can ADHD testing differentiate between ADHD and other conditions?
Yes! ADHD symptoms can overlap with other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. Our comprehensive evaluations are designed to distinguish between ADHD and similar issues, ensuring that you receive the most accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan. This distinction is crucial because strategies for managing ADHD often differ significantly from those for other conditions.
